Why you need updated workplace gaming & gambling policies


Presented by Jody Bechtold

Description: This training will educate HR professionals about the expansion of legalized gambling in the US, video gaming, and how they are showing up in the workday. Learn about social, at-risk, and problematic gaming and gambling behaviors and what it means for employers and employees. We will discuss how gaming and gambling can impact productivity at work, because it’s not about if BUT HOW MUCH your employees are gaming and gambling on the job! The ADA does not protect for process addictions - are you prepared for this? And let’s talk about your EAP contracts and make sure you have contracted with certified gaming and gambling specialists, because competence matters.  

Objectives

  1. Articulate the expansion of Gambling and Gaming in the US
  2. Learn the continuum of at-risk, problematic and disordered gambling and gaming
  3. Articulate how gambling and gaming can impact work productivity
  4. Review the HR policies that impact EAP and other resources for those employees that need it.

About our speaker:

Jody Bechtold, LCSW, ICGC-II, BACC, IGDC is a highly regarded gambling addiction expert working extensively across the globe with individuals, organizations, and associations. She is the CEO of The Better Institute, a group practice located in Pittsburgh. She is the co-author of The Gambling Disorder Treatment Handbook: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals and 2 chapters in the Social Work Desk Reference v 4 on Gambling and Gaming Disorders, published in 2021. She serves as the Vice President of the board for the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board (IGCCB). Jody holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work and has certifications as a Board-Approved Clinical Consultant (BACC), Internationally Certified Gambling Counselor Level II (ICGC-II) and holds the first ever International Gaming Disorder Certificate.
