Since the tax credit for COVID-19 Paid Leave ended on September 30th (and has not been extended) we have stopped offering paid sick or family leave related to COVID.
We felt that the tax credit end date of September 30th would be the best way to end the paid leave related to COVID. COVID-19 is not going away anytime soon and we cannot continue to pay employees for exposures, vaccinations, or even positive cases with no end date.
We were only paying the 80 hours per employee when the tax credit was in effect. Now, we are only offering unpaid leave with proof of positive cases (and exposures inside the workplace or outside the workplace).
Has anyone else followed this end date for paid COVID leave? Have you communicated this to your employees before or after the September 30th deadline?
